Vivo has officially unveiled OriginOS 6, its next-generation operating system that replaces Funtouch OS 6 worldwide, including India. The update marks a major milestone as the company celebrates its 30th anniversary, emphasizing three core principles — smoothness, design, and AI intelligence — to redefine the user experience across its devices.
Refined performance and smoother UI
At the heart of OriginOS 6 is the new Origin Smooth Engine, designed to improve app performance and UI fluidity. Vivo claims app launches are now up to 16% faster when opening 50 apps in sequence, while touch response has improved by 41%.
Features such as Memory Fusion and Dual Rendering ensure apps and games perform consistently without frame drops. Every tap, scroll, and swipe feels more instantaneous, giving the UI a noticeably refined feel.
Modernised design and deeper personalisation

Vivo has given OriginOS 6 a complete design overhaul, adopting a translucent, glass-like visual style inspired by iOS. The interface introduces resizable widgets, a revamped home screen grid, and adaptive folders that can automatically adjust layout based on user activity.
The new Vivo Sans2 font supports over 40 languages, paired with simpler color palettes and elegant icons. Users can also personalise their home and lock screens with dynamic glow effects, translucent layers, and motion-animated “Flip Cards” that bring photos to life as you tilt the phone.
AI at the core

OriginOS 6 is heavily driven by AI to make everyday tasks smarter and faster. The AI Retouch tool enhances or removes unwanted elements from photos in a single tap, while DocMaster and Smart Call Assistant boost productivity by managing documents and calls intelligently.
The OS is integrated with Google Gemini and Circle to Search, offering faster search results and context-aware suggestions directly within the interface.

Productivity and ecosystem upgrades
The new Origin Island feature provides an always-visible on-screen hub displaying real-time updates and app recommendations as you multitask. Functions like Copy & Go and Drag & Go make transferring text, links, or files between apps effortless.
For cross-device use, Office Kit and One-Tap Transfer enable seamless interaction between Vivo phones, tablets, and laptops, supporting file sharing, clipboard sync, and notification mirroring.
Battery, security, and longevity
OriginOS 6 also focuses on long-term performance. Vivo claims improved charging efficiency, thermal management, and on-device privacy that minimizes cloud dependency. The software is optimised to keep devices running smoothly for years, addressing one of the most common issues faced by Android users — gradual slowdown.

A unified and smarter Vivo experience
The transition from Funtouch OS to OriginOS 6 marks a turning point for Vivo and iQOO globally. The company’s focus on AI-driven efficiency, minimalist aesthetics, and improved performance signals a clear intent to compete with brands like Samsung’s One UI and OnePlus’ OxygenOS.
With the X300 series leading the rollout, OriginOS 6 could be the most refined and cohesive Android experience Vivo has delivered so far.
