After weeks of teasers, OnePlus has officially launched OxygenOS 16, its latest Android-based custom skin built on Android 16. The update brings smoother UI animations, deeper personalisation, and enhanced AI capabilities under the tagline “Intelligently Yours”. OxygenOS 16 will come pre-installed on the OnePlus 15, expected to launch in India in the coming months.
Rollout and Supported Devices
The OnePlus 13 series (13, 13R, 13s), OnePlus 12 series (12, 12R), and OnePlus Open will be the first to receive the OxygenOS 16 stable update starting later this month. Interestingly, the OnePlus 10 Pro, initially promised only up to Android 15, will also get the OxygenOS 16 upgrade — marking an extra major update for Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 users.

Performance and Visual Enhancements
OxygenOS 16 introduces Parallel Processing 2.0 and Flow Motion, improving overall system fluidity and visual consistency. OnePlus claims faster transitions and more responsive multitasking across core apps like Notes, Shelf, and Sound Recorder. Users using the traditional three-button navigation will also notice faster animation responses.
Lockscreen and Homescreen Personalisation
Customization gets a major upgrade — users can now add custom text, use Live Photos as wallpapers, and choose from multiple clock designs with dynamic light effects and depth. Apps on the homescreen can be resized into 2×1, 1×2, and 2×2 formats, while new Flux icons adapt app icon colors based on wallpaper tones or user preferences.
Revamped Gallery and App Drawer
The Gallery app now has an immersive view and a powerful video editor for on-the-go creators. The App Drawer gains a new layout with the search bar moved to the bottom for better reachability and a new Categories tab for app organization.

Smarter Live Alerts and AI Integration
Live Alerts now support YouTube Music, Google Sports, and Zomato order tracking. Sports scores can appear directly on the status bar, while Circle to Search is now usable even when the navigation bar is hidden.
OxygenOS 16 also strengthens its AI foundation through Google Gemini integration with Mind Space, allowing context-aware searches using saved screenshots or notes. Features like AI Writing, AI Recorder, AI Portrait Glow, and AI Perfect Shot aim to improve productivity and creativity across apps.

Plus Mind and Productivity Tools
The new Plus Mind assistant can identify on-screen content and store it in Mind Space, accessible via a three-finger swipe-up or Plus Key shortcut. It can extract data like event dates from images or flyers and automatically create reminders. Plus Mind also supports long screenshots, saving entire pages directly into Mind Space.

Cross-Device Ecosystem and Connectivity
With the O+ Connect app, OnePlus devices can now seamlessly pair with Windows and Mac PCs for file transfers, photo viewing, clipboard syncing, and remote desktop control. A new OHealth app for Apple Watch enables call management, notification syncing, and fitness record access.
Final Thoughts
OxygenOS 16 refines what OxygenOS 14 and 15 built, with a focus on AI, fluid animations, and personalisation. Its ecosystem expansion, improved multitasking, and visual polish make it one of the most mature Android skins from OnePlus yet.
